The Model 50101 Exterior Air Switch with Metal Case is designed for use with pneumatic sensing edges, providing a reliable safety solution for commercial and industrial doors. This switch features a normally open (N.O.) contact and helps ensure doors operate safely by detecting obstructions and triggering the appropriate response.

Sensing edges are critical for protecting both pedestrians and vehicles. Depending on the type of edge and the control wiring of the operator, the switch can cause the door to reverse, stop, or disable operation in the event of a fault.

Key Features:

  • Part Number: 50101

  • Exterior air switch with durable metal case

  • Designed for use with individual pneumatic sensing edges

  • Provides safety response based on control wiring type

  • Normally open (N.O.) contact configuration

Safety and Usage Notes:

  • Standard 2-wire edge: Causes the door to reverse upon obstruction with operators using B2, C2, S2, T, T1, or TS wiring.

  • Failsafe edges (3- or 4-wire): Reverse the door and disable operation if not installed or damaged (requires F2 wiring or CPS II option board).

  • Infrared link-edge: Inherently failsafe and requires only B2, C2, S2, T, T1, or TS wiring.

  • Important: Always specify edge length when ordering. A coil cord or take-up reel is required for installation (failsafe applications require a 3- or 4-wire coil cord; take-up reels are not recommended).

Safety Warning: It is strongly recommended that all door operators be equipped with safety devices such as sensing edges or photo eyes. Failure to use safety equipment may result in serious injury or death.
