Preformed loops are designed for use with loop detectors to reliably detect the presence of vehicles in driveways, parking lots, or other access areas. When a vehicle passes over the loop, it interrupts the circuit, prompting the loop detector to send a signal to a connected relay in your garage door opener or gate opener. This can trigger several functions, such as allowing free exit, preventing a gate or door from closing on a vehicle, or holding the gate or door open until the vehicle is safely clear. When paired with a timer, the loop ensures that countdowns only begin once the area is free of obstructions.
