These extension springs are engineered for 11-foot-tall overhead garage doors and provide the correct counterbalance for door weights ranging from 100 to 280 pounds. Properly matched springs reduce strain on the door system and help maintain smooth, controlled operation.
Each spring connects to the horizontal track support using S-hooks and is designed for use with a standard cable-and-sheave pulley system and safety cable. As the door closes, the spring extends to absorb load and control descent. When opening, it retracts to assist lifting and maintain tension that helps hold the door securely in the open position.
For correct balance and safe operation, two extension springs are required per door. Springs are sold individually and are DASMA color-coded by weight rating to simplify proper selection.
Selecting the Correct Spring:
Accurate spring selection requires knowing the door’s true weight and height. After safely disconnecting the opener and securing the door, the springs should be removed and the door weighed manually. Match the measured weight to the appropriate DASMA color code.
Important Safety Note:
Extension springs are a safety-critical component. Always install springs in pairs and replace both springs at the same time to maintain proper balance and system performance.
