In response to changing market dynamics and the rise of online commerce, NSCD launched its own e-commerce platform in the early 2000s, becoming known for its comprehensive catalog of garage door parts and essential operating components. This included parts from major brands such as Action Industries, LiftMaster, and Genie, among others. The business experienced steady growth and eventually moved operations to Strongsville, Ohio, to support expanding demand.

North Shore Commercial Door was acquired by Action Industries in 2019 and continued to operate as a standalone consumer website under the Action families of companies. As part of Action’s national brand platform, the North Shore e-commerce operation is providing the power behind Action Direct, a segment of Action Industries that focuses on direct-to-consumer (aka “end user”) online ordering.

 

The core product selection, customer base, and team remain consistent, including many original North Shore staff who continue to support our end user customers as well as thousands of B2B dealer accounts.

Action Direct continues to serve a diverse audience across numerous industries—including homeowners, DIYers, contractors, facility managers, and institutional buyers—through its online storefront and distribution partners. Products are available not only on the company’s e-commerce website, but also across third-party marketplaces like Amazon, and big box retailers such as Home Depot and Menards.

 

The product assortment includes thousands of SKUs covering garage door seals, operators, remotes, sensors, and specialty kits, supported by long-standing partnerships with industry-leading brands.
