How to Program the Genie Company's Garage Door Remotes

To determine which Genie remote programming instructions are compatible with your model, check the learn indicator light on your opener:

  • Red light = Intellicode® I

  • Blue light = Follow Intellicode II or III instructions

Programming Genie Intellicode I Remote Transmitters

  1. Gently press and release the receiver’s Learn Code button on the power head. This small, black button is behind the light lens near the six-inch antenna wire.

  2. After pressing it once, press your transmitter button three times while keeping the remote at least two feet away.

  3. Press the button once more to test—your door should move.

To erase all Intellicode remotes, hold the Learn button until the light stops blinking, then repeat the steps above.

To clear all remotes: After Step 2, press and hold both triangle buttons until the purple LED goes out.

To clear memory: While purple LED blinks, hold the Up and Down triangle buttons until both LEDs flash blue and go off.
